VTTI’s Division of Technology Development & Deployment (DTDD) is exploring how vehicle routing can save money by reducing congestion on our roadways. The division is tackling how to more efficiently program optimal routes for vehicles to reduce costs. These tools could be utilized to provide more data to fleet managers on how they can best deliver and distribute their materials and products.
With additional financial resources , division director Zeb Bowden would like to partner with freight companies to conduct further research on the routing side. In particular, he believes that there would be a tremendous opportunity to study freight operations in rural areas.
“We have to get people excited about studying how these vehicles operate in rural settings,” Bowden said. “This would be a great testing ground to analyze saving time.” As we all know, when companies save time, they save money!
