Human Factors of Transportation Safety Graduate Certificate Program

Through the Human Factors of Transportation Safety Graduate Certificate Program, graduate students will gain in-depth knowledge and skills to aid in the research, improvement, and protection of all ground transportation users.


Smart Roads Dispatcher

This position is responsible for many aspects of scheduling, vehicle access, and tracking billing of the Smart Roads facilities, both for current and future activities. Smart Roads Dispatchers work with users (research, administrative, and development personnel), via e-mail, phone, two-way radio systems and in person communication. SR Dispatchers maintain positive interactions, facilitating effective resource scheduling and tracking, and ensuring that the users’ goals and expectations are met, while simultaneously ensuring Smart Roads safety.


Research Assistant (On-Road Experimenter)

VTTI's Center for Infrastructure-Based Safety Systems (CIBSS) is currently seeking a Virginia Tech student to assist with a study exploring roadway lighting and its effect on blood melatonin production.


Business Process Project Assistant

VTTI's Center for Technology Development (CTD) is currently seeking a business trained or skilled project assistant to design, develop and implement business processes to support the project management function. Work is expected to include documenting existing practices and processes, participating in design meetings, using project management tools, conducting training and supporting the implementation of new processes.
