Center for Truck and Bus Safety: Human Factors and Advanced System Testing

Kevin Grove, M.S., is a research associate in the Center for Truck and Bus Safety (CTBS) at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute. Kevin served as the project manager for a large-scale naturalistic evaluation of heavy vehicle automatic emergency braking (AEB) technologies for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Kevin is currently leading NTHSA's follow-up study to evaluate the newest generation of AEB technologies. Kevin has lead two FMCSA studies to understand how fleets choose to adopt advanced safety technologies like AEB and how technology providers ensure the integrity of their sensors and safety of their products. Kevin has also studied how drivers use safety technologies in adverse weather, driver behaviors when using advanced safety technologies, and the interfaces between safety technologies and drivers.
