Hao Chen, Research Associate

Hao Chen is a Research Associate in the Center for Sustainable Mobility (CSM) . He obtained his Ph.D. in civil engineering from Virginia Tech in 2014. Over the past 15 years Dr. Chen has worked on solving various transportation issues in the areas of traffic flow theory, traffic behavior modeling and simulation, traffic estimation and prediction, energy optimization for connected and automated vehicles, large-scale traffic data analysis, traffic signal control, and bus schedule optimization. Dr. Chen has authored/co-authored more than 50 publications, including books, book chapters, journal articles, and conference papers. He has served as principal investigator/co-principal Investigator for several research projects focused on developing and testing various energy-optimal control strategies for connected and automated vehicles.
