Eileen Herbers is a research associate within the Division of Freight, Transit, and Heavy Vehicle Safety at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI). She began her work at VTTI as a graduate research assistant in 2019. She received a B.S. in Applied Mathematics Engineering from Northwestern University in 2018 and a Ph.D. in Engineering Mechanics from Virginia Tech in 2023. Her dissertation research focused on using naturalistic data to measure the potential safety impact of automated driving systems.
