
Brian Wotring is a research associate in the Division of Freight, Transit, & Heavy Vehicle Safety. Throughout his eighteen-year career, he has participated in or taken the lead on every aspect of a project, from data collection and analyses to report writing. He has completed projects investigating several proprietary interface and warning modalities and conducted evaluations of pre-production and production driver assistance systems. Recently, Brian joined the Sharing the Road with Trucks team where he currently leads special driver’s education sessions including in-classroom and hands-on demonstrations focused on safely sharing the road with heavy vehicles. He has already worked closely with 250 classes and shared vital highway safety information with 10,000 students across several states. Brian received his M.S. in experimental psychology with an emphasis on human factors from the University of Idaho, where he completed his research on visual perception during low-altitude flight in simulators.
