Alejandra Medina is a senior research associate at The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI).

She has more than 20 years of professional experience as a civil engineer, researcher, teacher and trainer with a strong commitment to excellence. Her research includes: Access Control Design on Highway Interchanges, Acquisition and Development of a Prototype Instrumented City, Evaluation of the Operation and Safety Levels of Interstate 81, Identification and Evaluation of Driver Errors, and Metropolitan Model Deployment Initiative (MMDI) and Incident Management System.

She is recognized as an international highway safety expert and has been an invited speaker in several international conferences to address safety issues in transportation.
