Deb Mishra, Research Affiliate

Dr. Debakanta (Deb) Mishra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech, where he teaches courses in the areas of Pavement Engineering, Railroad Engineering, and Transportation Geotechnics. He joined Virginia Tech in August 2025, after spending six years as an Associate Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Oklahoma State University. Prior to that, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at Boise State University from 2014 till 2019.

Dr. Mishra has research interests in the generic areas of Infrastructure Materials, Pavement Engineering, Railroad Engineering, and Transportation Geotechnics. He has served as an active member of several TRB and ASCE committees and served as the chair of the TRB Unbound Granular Material Sub-Committee since from 2016 till 2022. Deb serves as an Associate Editor for ASCE’s Journal of Materials as well the International Journal of Pavement Engineering. He also serves on the Editorial Board for Transportation Geotechnics and the Journal of Road Materials and Pavement Design
