InternHUB

InternHUB is an interdisciplinary advanced-learning program at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) that accelerates practical skill development in students through internships with high-tech employers in the transportation industry.

The Program

InternHUB is designed to provide Industry Partners with the opportunity to select students from a pool consisting of the best and brightest minds at Virginia Tech with a wide variety of backgrounds. We encourage Industry Partners to provide students with projects that can span the course of more than one year to ensure that the work done provides real value to the organization and fosters true growth of a professional relationship between student and partner. Upon graduation, students will be highly capable, making them prime candidates for positions within the partner’s organization. Long term relationships with the InternHUB program allow for a sustained pipeline of talent into partner organizations.

The Students

InternHUB students are some of the most innovative individuals across a variety of disciplines, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer engineering and programming. Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering consistently earns its rank among the top ten engineering schools in the nation, ensuring that the students are of the finest caliber that higher education has to offer. The InternHUB program’s goal is to provide students with hands-on real-world projects so they can develop the necessary skills to be highly effective assets on the job starting from day one. As a result of participation in the program, students will be highly employable upon receiving their degrees and at the conclusion of their time in the InternHUB program.

The Facilities

The InternHUB program operates out of the state-of-the-art Automation Hub, located at VTTI's main campus. Here, students will be provided with the space and tools to work on partner-provided projects during the fall and spring semesters. This 15,000 sq. ft. facility is equipped with the tooling for mechanical and electrical system development. Work will occur on-site with some of Virginia Tech’s best faculty members to provide mentorship and guidance within their areas of technical expertise.
