Director's Welcome
Welcome to the 4th Annual CATM Symposium. CATM is a UTC funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation in 2016 under the FAST Act. Our research efforts revolve around improving mobility for people and goods and focus on transportation issues faced by vulnerable populations such as individuals with disabilities, those facing socioeconomic challenges, the elderly, youth, bicyclists, and pedestrians.
We are excited that you have chosen to participate in this event. The pandemic altered our plans to hold this symposium in person during both the 2020 and 2021 academic years. While we had hoped that we would be able to have an in-person event this year, the continuous need for elevated caution resulted in the decision to hold the CATM symposium virtually. Several projects have been completed, as well as new and interesting projects initiated, since 2020 and this symposium is designed to highlight the activities that have taken place over the last two years. During the next two days, you will hear from students, faculty, and researchers from each of the three consortium member institutions – North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (lead), Virginia Tech, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – as they describe their projects. Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of the presenters if you are interested in collaborating on a new or existing project.
