Miao Song, Research Associate

Center for Advanced Automotive Research: Connected & Advanced Vehicle Systems

Miao Song, Ph.D., is currently a Research Associate in the Center for Advanced Automotive Research (CAAR) at Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) where he primarily focuses on human factors and transportation safety projects. He has expertise in driver performance, connected vehicle systems, crash avoidance systems, and driver fatigue and distraction.

Song has been conducting human factors and biomechanics research for ten years and has published numerous journal papers, conference proceedings, and research reports. He is currently a member and the Communication Coordinator of TRB User Information Systems Committee (AND20) and serves as a reviewer for many transportation journals.

Song received his M.S. in mechanical engineering and his Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering with a human factors concentration from the University of Rhode Island.
