Brad Cannon, Research Associate

Center for Advanced Automotive Research: Advanced Product Test and Evaluation

Brad Cannon is a research associate at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI). As a member of the Advanced Product Testing and Evaluation (APTE) group, he is primarily involved in proprietary research with major automotive manufacturers and other industry sponsors. He is involved in research design, data collection, and data analysis. His expertise lies in using multiple tools and computer systems to query and analyze naturalistic driving data. Previous efforts have developed methods to classify trips from naturalistic driving data as rural or urban and by road type. Cannon has also participated in the administration of on-road driving studies, reviewing study procedures with study participants, collecting and verifying participant data, and testing the in-vehicle data acquisition system. He has been with VTTI since April 2006.

Prior to coming to VTTI, Mr. Cannon worked on the staff of the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance. At the Finance Committee, he worked on tax policy legislation and government oversight and investigations. Mr. Cannon studied political science at the University of Oregon and received a B.S. in 2000.
