Clark Gaylord, Chief Information Officer

Mr. Clark Gaylord is the chief information officer and is director of data center operations for the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI). Since 2008, Mr. Gaylord has led the strategic direction for information technology, data center infrastructure, and big data management and analysis at VTTI. He is the principal architect of the VTTI Scientific Data Warehouse, integrating high-performance computing, parallel database, and peta-scale file system technologies to enable data-intensive scientific research. In 2012, VTTI was the recipient of the CIO Magazine 'CIO 100' award for the innovative and effective use of large-scale, data-intensive, and high-performance computing infrastructure.

Prior to joining VTTI, Mr. Gaylord was IT Operations Lead with the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute and served as Lead Research Engineer of the Virginia Tech Telecommunications Auxiliary.

Mr. Gaylord has an M.S. in statistics from Virginia Tech and an M.S. in mathematics from the University of Virginia.
