Take a Tour!
PLEASE NOTE: Due to our increased research schedule, we are not able to offer individual tours on days other than those designated for School Day and/or public Open House. We would love for you to visit with us, but you will need to make arrangements to do so on the upcoming designated dates (listed below)
Open House: April 12, 2012
Individuals and small groups up to 10 may come anytime from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on the appointed day, and take a 60 - 90 minute tour of VTTI's research facilities. The tour will include a brief presentation by one of our researchers, a look at our Control Room, and our instrumented vehicles also hosted by some of our researchers. You will also experience our all-weather testing capabilities with a ride through a simulated rain event on the Virginia Smart Road in Blacksburg Transit buses. School Day: April 4, 2012
At pre-scheduled times from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., School Day is for students from first grade through college. Every student will have a chance to see the Virginia Smart Road and VTTI's facilities. The tour lasts 45 - 90 minutes and may either be the full tour or may need to follow an abbreviated schedule of our Open House tours, depending in grade level, attention span, number of students in the group, etc. however they will all experience our all-weather testing capabilities with a ride on the buses they arrive in through a simulated rain event on our Smart Road.
