Human Factors and Ergonomics Society's 53rd Annual Meeting
The 53rd Annual Meeting of the HFES will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Antonio, TX, October 19–23, 2009.
The Society's mission is to promote the discovery and exchange of knowledge concerning the characteristics of human beings that are applicable to the design of systems and devices of all kinds. The Society furthers serious consideration of knowledge about the assignment of appropriate functions for humans and machines, whether people serve as operators, maintainers, or users in the system. And, it advocates systematic use of such knowledge to achieve compatibility in the design of interactive systems of people, machines, and environments to ensure their effectiveness, safety, and ease of performance.
Transportation Research Board (TRB) 89th Annual Meeting
The TRB 89th Annual Meeting will be held in Washington, D.C., at the Connecticut Avenue Collection hotels: Marriott Wardman Park, Omni Shoreham, and Hilton Washington, January 10&ndash14, 2010.
The TRB Annual Meeting program covers all transportation modes, with more than 3,000 presentations in nearly 600 sessions addressing topics of interest to all attendees — policy makers, administrators, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions. The spotlight theme for 2010 is "Investing in Our Transportation Future — BOLD Ideas to Meet BIG Challenges."

Lifesavers 2009 Conference
The 2009 Lifesavers Conference will be held in Nashville, TN, March 29–April 1, 2009. Lifesavers is the premier national highway safety meeting in the United States dedicated to reducing the tragic toll of deaths and injuries on our nation's roadways. Starting in the early 1980s, the Lifesavers conference attendance has grown steadily, drawing over 2,000 participants in 2008. Each year, the Lifesavers Conference has become even more relevant and timely, providing a forum that delivers common-sense solutions to today's critical highway safety problems.
The conference addresses a wide range of safety topics, from child passenger safety and occupant protection to roadway and vehicle safety and technology. It offers the latest information on advances in highway safety, highlights successful programs and draws attention to emerging safety issues.
Lifesavers has no single sponsor and relies on the involvement of diverse private and public groups who share the common goal of improving highway safety.
The Third SHRP 2 Safety Research Symposium
The Third SHRP 2 Safety Research Symposium, held July 17–18 at the National Academies– Keck Center in Washington, DC, gathered nearly a hundred safety researchers from the U. S. and abroad to review the study design and data collection methods for the Safety research program.
