Facilities

VTTI's facilities include the 2.2-mile two-lane Smart Road and over 51,000 sq ft of office, garage, and specialized laboratory space. The Institute features an asphalt lab, high-tech laboratory space, fully equipped garages, conference rooms, instrumentation bays, office space for over 220 employees and a specialized machine shop for working on VTTI's vehicle fleet.

As we learn more about making transportation safer, faster and more cost effective, new research opportunities arise. The Institute recently added a new research building and a third research building is in the planning phase. VTTI continues to find newer and better ways to conduct research, solve problems, and develop plans for putting these solutions into place.
